Working as a doctor in the UK, it is very likely that you will be working in the National Health Service (NHS). The NHS is the UK’s publicly funded health system which is free for all UK residents. Consultations, investigations such as blood tests and scans are free as well as are hospital operations.

The NHS sets standards for all healthcare professionals which it employs and always reviews its priorities, to reflect the population it serves. In this module, we take you through what the NHS stands for and how it expects doctors to work. Medical schools want to see that applicants are aware of the UK health system and how it operates, so this module will help shape not just your personal statement, but your interview preparation as well.
